How to install a new belt catcher
Here are the steps to follow in order to installing a new belt catcher. However, before making any changes, check that the fault is not caused by elements such as dirt or simply a small part that needs to be replaced or adjusted.
The first thing to do is carefully remove the trim and use sergeants to clamp the top of the tape so that the tape does not move through the guide, then remove the pick-up together with the tape spool and clamp the spool so that the tape does not come off the spool. Remove the pieces of the old take-up and then remove the tape reel, follow these steps:
- Put the tape of the blind through the tape grommet that contains the catcher. Don't forget that it must also pass through the trim beforehand.
- Fold the end of the ribbon over a few centimetres and make a small incision in the centre with scissors (or other sharp object).
- Retract the pick-up pulley several turns until you feel resistance. Be careful to hold it securely to prevent it from coming loose and damaging your fingers.
- Put the end of the belt on the pulley attachment point where you will find a screw or a metal notch.
- Once this is done, carefully release the pulley and let the tape wind up several turns.
- Place the dustpan in the box and colour the trim on top and screw it to the wall.
- Finally, check that the roller shutter raises and lowers correctly.
You can take advantage of this repair to replace any other deteriorated element such as the blind tape or cord. This will extend the service life and reduce the cost of repairs.
