Venetian blinds

We can installing a venetian blind wherever you want: on the ceiling, on the wall or directly in the window opening. And there is no need for large brackets because they are very light.

With this in mind, we are going to talk to you about how to install venetian blinds on the roof.

How to count a Venetian blind step by step

Here are the steps to follow to install a Venetian blind on the ceiling in a simple way.

Step 1: Look for obstacles

When installing the shutter, we look at the obstacles we have to avoid the shutter coming into contact with them when raising and lowering it (cranks, skirting boards, shutter boxes, etc.). This is important to calculate the measurements and to know where we have to place the ceiling brackets. At least 2 cm is recommended if there are no obstacles.

Measurements for hanging venetian blinds on the ceiling

Step 2: Indicate the middle of the window

Once we have calculated the distance where the brackets have to be placed If the Venetian blind is not installed on the wall, we now have to make sure that the Venetian blind covers the entire window. To do this, we have to find the middle of the window in the upper frame and make a mark (X).

Once we have the point, we project an imaginary vertical line to the ceiling and measure the distance, which we will call Y. Use a square for this.

Step 3: Calculate the roof supports

Once we have the above measurement, we use a tape measure to measure from the middle of the window to the end minus 10 cm to mark the point where the ceiling support will go. However, remember that if it contains plastic pulleys and the 10 cm do not coincide, we will calculate less distance (about 8 cm).

Step 4: Mark the remaining supports

This next step is to mark the rest of the ceiling supports. From right to left we measure every 70 to 90 cm or so to mark the rest of the points where the ceiling supports will go (all at the same distance from the wall).

In other words, for a 2 metre venetian blind, we will need 3 ceiling brackets, where each bracket will be every 90 cm. If we had a rail longer than 2.5 metres, the normal would be every 70 cm.

Step 5: Mark where to drill

In this next step, we will use the brackets to mark the holes where we are going to drill and install the brackets. It is important that the points are aligned and at the same distance from the wall. We can use a square to do this.

Step 6: Putting in the blocks

Once all the holes have been marked, proceed to drill and then insert the plugs into the cavities and install the brackets in the marked holes. The brackets, whatever shape they are, must always be installed on the flat side with the face towards the ceiling and in the lower part where the screws will be inserted.

Step 7: Attaching the venetian blind

When attaching the venetian blind to the brackets, make sure that all brackets are in the same position. This way, when we turn the hose, the tabs are anchored to the blind profile and hold it firmly in place.

Step 8: Squaring the Venetian blind

With the brackets in the same position, install the venetian blind between the 3 brackets that we have installed and feel it out until the rail is completely square. That is to say, it must be the same distance from the ends to the edge of the window frame. Once everything is in place, all you have to do is close the brackets.

Step 9: Close the brackets

To close the brackets it is necessary to move the flange to the left so that the side flanges are under the rail profile and fasten the rail to the bracket.

Step 10: Install the roller shutter mechanism

Once the venetian blind has been centred and securely fastened by means of the brackets, the blind is fully installed. Now we only need to insert the rod that will allow us to operate the mechanism and raise or lower the blind and control the light.

Once we have carried out all the steps, we will have the shutter ready for our use and enjoyment. As you can see, installing a venetian blind is a simple matter.
